Worldwide Outrage over Barbaric Execution of Baby Giraffe, Marius, at Denmark Zoo

I’m both proud and disgusted by mankind today. I’m proud of the hundreds of thousands of compassionate people who signed petitions and spoke up for the sweet giraffe baby, Marius, who couldn’t speak for himself. And I’m disgusted by Bengt Holst and the minority of “humans” who thought it was okay to slaughter a perfectly healthy and beautiful giraffe because he was considered “surplus” by a cruel zoo director. They had offers to move Marius to other facilities, but they chose not to. Why? My guess is that Bengt Holst is a bloodthirsty barbarian who just wanted to put on a gory show. And I’m saddened by the parents who brought their children to witness this gruesome spectacle. I imagine some of these children will need years of therapy to attempt to erase this horrifying image from their minds.

I’ve watched this disgusting excuse of a human being, Bengt Holst, in several televised interviews now. He looks like a ghoul and he makes no sense when he talks. The expression on Anderson Cooper’s face while interviewing him was of complete astonishment. Anderson looked like he couldn’t believe what he was hearing. And I couldn’t either. Neither could Jack Hanna, who seemed shocked that they called the butchering of Marius an “autopsy.” Obviously everyone with half a brain knew that Marius was dead because someone shot him in the head.

Bengt Holst Terrible Human Being and Murderer of Beautiful Animals

Terrible Human Being and Murderer of Beautiful Animals

Bengt Holst needs to be fired from the Copenhagen Zoo for several reasons. First, his poor judgment could have a severe financial impact on tourism to Denmark and how the rest of the world sees Denmark. Second, he may be plotting to murder another beautiful animal soon. And most importantly, he showed extremely poor judgment in killing Marius, even though he could have been rehomed. Smart people always know what’s going to happen next. Bengt Holst should have had the foresight to know how bad the backlash and international outrage would be after he killed Marius. Now you see him on television whining about how he and his family are receiving death threats? Come on, Dummy! You didn’t know this was going to happen? It’s really hard to feel sorry for him. Someone who shows so little common sense should not have a position in a zoo, where living creatures depend on him for their safety and well-being.

When I was young, I loved going to the zoo. My parents would take me every Easter and several times during the year. I was always under the assumption that the animals in the zoo were lucky and safe. After all, they didn’t have to worry that they could be grabbed and eaten by lions any second. They would be cared for by loving zookeepers and live happy lives, well-fed and protected. It’s funny how things are never really as they seem. Now I see that the zoos aren’t about the conservation of animals; they’re about the self-preservation of zoos. I would never donate a penny to or visit a zoo again. If I want to see wild animals, I’ll visit Africa or take an Alaskan cruise and view them in their natural settings.

Lately, there have been several incredible documentaries that have come out, such as CNN’s excellent documentary, Blackfish, which point out why it’s not a good idea to keep wild animals in captivity for our entertainment.

The zoo director can’t seem to understand why people are so upset. People anthropomorphize animals. And if we didn’t, zoos and aquariums wouldn’t exist. The zoo can’t have it both ways. You can’t breed an animal, name it, publicize it, make people fall in love with it and then kill it. Of course people are going to be angry. Does the zoo want animal lovers to visit, spend money and become attached to the zoo animals? Or do they want people to shun the zoo because that cute giraffe you saw today will be butchered and fed to lions next week, so they’d better not get too attached. The reason people visit zoos is because they love animals. If people didn’t enjoy looking at beautiful animals, the zoos would have no visitors.

Euthanizing is done to end the suffering of an animal. It bothers me that the Bengt Holst uses the word “euthanize” to describe the death of Marius, who was happy and healthy.

Hopefully, Bengt Holst will be fired before he commits another atrocity on an innocent animals. You can sign a petition to support his firing here.

Arguing with Republicans is a Waste of Time

Republicans
Don’t Waste Your Time Arguing with a Republican

I had to take a hiatus from GreedyRepublicans.com midway through the Republican primaries. I was getting depressed and burned out by the stupidity I was hearing on a daily basis. And let’s face it, the worst Republican stupidity always rises to the top during primary season when all the candidates try to “out crazy” each other to get the nomination. During the last primaries, we heard republican freaks make statements so absurd that it was no big surprise that Barack Obama was re-elected. Normal people (people who have empathy for others) don’t want to hear crap about building moats filled with crocodiles around boarders so illegal immigrants are eaten alive when they try to cross the border. Surely there is a more humane solution to the illegal immigration problem. But I guess that would take thought, something that most Republicans despise doing.

Last night, I was enjoying watching the Eclipse Awards for thoroughbred champions when my daughter came home and told me that she had been engaging with a Republican co-worker on Facebook. I was disgusted. I’ve warned my kids not to engage with Republicans because the facts just roll off their backs and the debate will end up being an exercise of frustration. Most Republicans get their information from Fox News, conservative websites or other Republicans. And republicans almost always lack empathy which makes it impossible for them to see things through other people’s point of view.

Of course, my curiosity got the best of me and I paused the Eclipse Awards to check out the debate.  Sure enough, we have a 23 year old young woman, still living at home with her parents, spewing bold talk about Obamacare and socialism on my daughter’s Facebook page. She had just recently started working, her first ever job. This young woman is obviously one of the lucky ones. She’s probably never felt the sting of a hungry belly or the discomfort of sleeping in a place with no heat. She lives in her parent’s warm house, enjoying their hospitality and good graces, and worrying that other people might be getting financial help from the government.  She has little, if any, life experience to speak of.

When I was a teenager, my father used to lose to tell me, “Someday, that big door is going to swing open and you’ll be on your own.” And he was right! It’s a cold, cruel and expensive world out there if you don’t have a great job with benefits or a family to support you. I went without health insurance for nearly 20 years, as I made too much money (working as a waitress and a clerk at a bank) for public health insurance, but not enough money to buy private health insurance. I had to do a lot of marginal things to survive. I went without preventative care or examinations for a long time. When I had an infection, I went to the pet store and bought antibiotics that were meant for aquarium fish. By the time I was finally able to secure health insurance as a 42 year old woman, I was sick. Real sick. I had an autoimmune disorder for years that causes terrible inflammation in my body. All those years of not going for routine checkups came back to haunt me. If I had seen a doctor, I probably wouldn’t be so bad off now.

Pro-life Republicans are always squealing about health insurance reform. Republicans generally have a “I’ve got mine, screw everyone else” attitude. If they are currently covered by health insurance, that’s all they really care about. But what about the “million dollar babies?” People with health insurance put a strain on the system too. When a baby is born premature or with health problems and requires incredible amounts of money to save, who pays for that? Should there be limits on how much a person can take from their health insurance to protect the other people from insurance rate increases? Should these babies be left to die because they’re putting too much strain on the health care system? It doesn’t matter if the family has health insurance or not, someone is going to pay for it, either the taxpayers or people/employers who pay for private health insurance.

I didn’t want to engage the young woman too much, so I simply asked her if she had health insurance. She stated, rather shamelessly, that she was currently covered on her parent’s insurance until she is 26 years old. I told her that if it wasn’t for Obamacare, she’d already be uninsured. Thankfully for this young woman, The Affordable Care Act extended the time that young people can stay on their parent’s health insurance from age 22 to 26. Of course, she missed the whole point. Then she started talking about Obama and how he wants to turn the United States into a socialist country. The same tired crazy babble that all Republicans say when they feel their political views are being called into question.

When I explained that not having health insurance could have serious health ramifications, she said, “I’ll risk it.” All I have to say is, “Good luck. You’re going to need it.” A young republican with no life experience making bold statements about her unknown future. What could be sadder than that? I’d love to talk to this young woman in ten years and see if she’s changed her tune. The problem with that is most Republicans subscribe to “the skunk always smells himself last” way of thinking. The red states usually have the highest rates of welfare. So many Republicans don’t practice what they preach. Or they feel it’s okay for them to get welfare, food stamps, free public school, college financial aid ect but it’s not okay for anyone else.

I just laughed. Lately I enjoy contemplating the futility of arguing with republicans. Their incredible shamelessness is quite amusing. I turned off my computer and put the Eclipse Awards back on. Congratulations to Wise Dan, 2014 Horse of the Year!

I sincerely hope this young lady has an easy and healthy life. But as Forrest Gump said, “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”

John Boehner Caves in to President Obama Again : Payroll Tax Compromise Passes the House!

John Boehner: Why is he always crying?

This is great news for middle class Americans who didn’t want their taxes to go up on January 1, 2012. Thankfully, John Boehner and Eric  Cantor caved to the Democrats today. Now Americans will be able to enjoy their Christmas. Hopefully, when Congress is back in session, they’ll immediately pass the other 10 months of tax breaks for the middle class.

But what is wrong with John Boehner? Why is he always crying and looking like he just got his butt whipped? Does he have some sort of psychological problem?

John Boehner is very bad at his job. Boehner can’t control the fruitcake tea baggers that were elected in 2010. All of these 2010 crackpots need to be tossed out on their rumps. All democrats should actively campaign to remove these traitors from office. Sane republicans should do the same thing. The Tea Party is toxic and will poison anyone who comes in contact with it.

Boehner is just punching himself in the face over and over again. And the American people are watching. They know that he’s lying. He’s a wimp. The Tea Party has Boehner over a barrel.

Boehner is a terrible leader. He couldn’t lead a suicidal man off a cliff. I don’t think that he’s going to be able to hold onto his speaker job much longer.

Is this how it’s going to be from now on? The American people will constantly be held hostage by Tea Party republicans? How many people will have to lose their homes or forgo medical care until these republicans are thrown out of office? It’s a real shame. These republicans are playing with the lives of American citizens. They don’t want to see the middle class get anything, but they want to reward their rich friends so they’ll keep donating. I’m so sick of hearing teabaggers talk about the job creators. Where are the good jobs, you idiots?

I was impressed with how Mitch McConnell, a rare smart republican, forced John Boehner and Eric Cantor to submit to the Payroll Tax compromise.  Eric Cantor, who bears a striking resemblance to Frankenstein, was so smug, smirking and thinking that he had obstructed the middle class from getting their tax break. Boehner spoke out with confidence; he said he wouldn’t back down. Then Mitch called and all hell broke loose in Congress. Boehner had to do 180 degree turn around for the media. Eric Cantor was silent on the caving. What could he say after he stood there all smirking and smug earlier? He looks like a fool now.

The tea party is angry with John Boehner now. They think he caved. And he did. This is a big win for President Obama. He’s playing these republicans like a fiddle. The ignorant and greedy republicans are actually helping Obama get re-elected. It’s amazing how it’s all falling into place now. Just in time for 2012.

Phillip Dennis Spews More Misleading Tea Party Lies and Propaganda

Phillip Dennis : Misleads the Public to Further His Agenda

Phillip Dennis from the Dallas Tea Party acts like he’s got a screw loose. He acted like a raving lunatic on the Chris Matthews show again. Says that we can’t afford to pay for the middle class tax cuts, but we should keep taxes low for the rich. Yeah, okay.

When Matthews asked who Phillip Dennis supported for president, this zealot says Ronald Reagan. Hey, Dennis, Ronald Reagan, who raised taxes 11 times during his presidency, is dead. This is what makes the tea party so insane. They always talk absurd bull crap. Reagan is gone, teabaggers. Get over it and move on.

Phillip Dennis also said that he planned to use his $40 tax credit to buy 12 gallons of gasoline and that he used to get 25 gallons for the same price.  Before Barack Obama was president.

It’s very misleading to say that the price of gas shot up because of President Barack Obama. These tea party extremists like to imply that we had always enjoyed $1.80 gas and then Obama came along and spoiled the party. This is simply not true. Gas prices fell briefly in 2008 because of a specific set of economic circumstances.  Prior to this drop, we were paying huge gasoline prices for years.

In October of 2008, the month before the election, gas prices were around $3.50. In July 2008, gas prices spiked to $4.10. This happened under President Bush’s presidency. We already had gasoline prices over $3 a gallon by September 2005.

Don’t take my word for it. See it with your own eyes. Here are the month to month gas prices:

Gas Prices – Month to Month

Everyone knows that the gas prices rise and fall because of supply and demand/oil speculators. It is unfair to blame it on President Barack Obama. It is irresponsible to mislead people about the real reason this is happening. Just tell people the truth.

Phillip Dennis has got to be furious with the way his guys keep caving in to the democrats. As Sarah “No Brain” Palin would say: Gotta celebrate it!
